One can never imagine that a kiss could be deadly enough to kill a person. While the episode may seem unusual, it highlights the need to raise awareness around this lesser-discussed topic. Film Producer Phoebe Campbell-Harris shared her terrifying experience of kiss that went terribly wrong.
The 28-year-old was affected by an allergic reaction that almost turned into a near-death experience. Campbell shared that when she was 18 she kissed a man that she met at a nightclub in Paris. Soon came an anaphylactic allergic reaction that gave her rashes all over her face and neck. She realised that she was showing signs of an allergic reaction and that she was going to get an anaphylactic shock. While Campbell did not consume any nuts that she is allergic to, her trigger went off after the kiss and she had to use her Epipen for the first aid and then dialed the ambulance for emergency.
"The effect of social drinking has been relatively less studied, especially in India. In fact, social drinking has been encouraged as a health drink. This study indicate that these myths may be wrong. Consumption of alcohol even in low levels as in social drinking do cause a significant rise in BP levels over the week. This has significance in that BP recordings measured on Monday or Tuesday may be high because of alcohol consumed over the weekend. Taking history of alcohol consumption now becomes very important," the researchers have said.
Sharing a video of what happened 10 years back Campbell explained, "My throat felt like sandpaper. That is the first sign, then it becomes harder to swallow. All the senses become heightened. It's pure panic...fight or flight."
She was diagnosed with Anaphylaxis, a life-threatening allergic reaction. Though Cambell was very careful not to consume anything she was allergic to, she still went through this ordeal of a life- threatening condition because of a kiss. She later realised that the man must have eaten something that triggered her allergy.

The National Health Service has reported Anaphylaxis is a life-threatening allergic reaction and can be fatal if not treated promptly. Symptoms of anaphylaxis include swelling of the throat or tongue, difficulty in breathing, wheezing, fatigue, and when the body reacts to the "poison, the body starts turning blue as a reaction. After facing a near-death experience because of a kiss, she decided to make a movie loosely based on her own experience and she is now promoting the film which iS about a girl who goes into anaphylactic shock after kissing someone at the party.
