In the era of ‘out of sight, out of mind’ it is imperative that a film comes with an impressive promotional strategy to ensure people come to the theatres. Even if the film’s scale doesn’t allow you to go on a multi-city tour for promotion, there is a need to create a buzz, especially outside the circles of social media.
Unfortunately, Shoojit Sircar’s latest, I Want To Talk, has suffered from a lack of promotions, a packed release schedule, and few other reasons best known to the makers. Despite receiving positive reviews for its content and performance of Abhishek Bachchan, I Want to Talk has just managed to earn Rs 0.5 crore on Sunday taking its overall tally to Rs 1.25 crore.
With the film being released only in select screens already, the occupancy of the film on a Sunday was at an abysmal 14.55 %. Even the limited release with just about 130-odd screens in Mumbai, and 200-odd screens in NCR didn’t work in favour of the film because both these areas only had 16.75% and 9.75% occupancy.
