The QS World University Rankings Sustainability 2025 have been released, and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has emerged as the top-ranked Indian institution. Globally, IIT Delhi holds the 171st position and has achieved an impressive 81.1 percentile in the Environmental Sustainability category.
IIT Delhi saw a remarkable improvement, climbing 255 places from the previous year. It had ranked 426 globally last year. It is followed by IIT Kharagpur, ranked 202nd globally, and IIT Bombay, which holds the 234th position.
Both institutions showed notable jumps in their rankings, with IIT Kharagpur improving by 147 places and IIT Bombay by 69.

Out of 78 Indian universities in the QS Sustainability Rankings 2025, nine of the top ten institutions improved their global standings. The list also features 21 new entrants this year.
