Austin Butler, known for his role in Elvis and Dune Part Two, is set to portray Patrick Bateman in Luca Guadagnino's new adaptation of the horror novel, American Psycho. This news was exclusively reported by Variety.
The novel, authored by Bret Easton Ellis and published in 1991, was previously adapted into a film in 2000, starring Christian Bale as Bateman, a wealthy Manhattan investment banker who leads a double life as a serial killer.
Variety also reported that this project is not a remake of the 2000 film but a fresh interpretation of the original novel. Scott Z Burns, recognised for his work on films like Contagion and The Bourne Ultimatum, will adapt the screenplay.
The project is backed by Hollywood studio Lionsgate and will be produced by Frenesy Films, with Pressman Film, which produced the original movie, also involved.

Butler, who received an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann's 2022 biopic, has earned critical acclaim for his roles in Dune: Part Two, The Bikeriders, and the miniseries Masters of the Air. Read More
